Cosco to Hike Asia-Europe, Middle East Rates

Cosco Container Lines plans to increase rates for all shipments on its trade from the Far East to the Red Sea, Persian Gulf and Indian subcontinent, effective April 15:

  • For trade to the Red Sea and Persian Gulf, the increase will be $300 per 20-foot-equivalent unit.
  • For trade to the Indian subcontinent, the increase will be $200 per TEU.

The carrier will also hike rates for all shipments from the Far East, excluding Japan, and the India and Pakistan region, to northwest Europe and the Mediterranean, starting April 15. The hike will be $475 per TEU.

Additionally, Cosco Container Lines will implement a peak season surcharge for all shipments from Xingang, China, to South Korea, starting April 1. The surcharge will be 200 Chinese yuan (about US$32.17) per TEU and $64.33 per 40-foot-equivalent unit.

The carrier will also adjust the terminal handling charge for all shipments on its trade between the Far East and Croatia, starting April 1. The new charge will be €130 (about US$167.54) per unit.
