The CKYH alliance will restructure five of its current all-water services from Asia to the U.S. East Coast this month.
The four members of the alliance — Cosco, “K” Line, Yang Ming and Hanjin Shipping — will reinstate the AWE-6 service in mid-May, replacing the AWE-5, which was suspended during winter season.
The restructuring is part of an annual event when carriers reshuffle services suspended for the slack winter season.
“The changes will enhance the service network between Asia and the U.S. East Coast, while offering customers competitive sailing frequency, transit time and service coverage so as to fulfill their needs,” the carriers said.

-- The AWE-1 service will not change. Hanjin deploys nine vessels of 4,034 20-foot equivalent units each on this loop, with the following port rotation: Ningbo, Shanghai, Pusan, New York, Wilmington, Savannah, Pusan and back to Ningbo.
-- AWE-2. Effective May 15, Cosco will deploy nine vessels ranging from 4,200 TEUs to 5,100 TEUs in the service, with the following port rotation: Qingdao, Shanghai, Ningbo, Yokohama, New York, Boston, Norfolk and back to Qingdao.
-- AWE-3. Starting May 20, Yang Ming will deploy nine 4,250-TEU vessels in the service, calling at Hong Kong, Yantian, Kaohsiung, Shanghai, Pusan, Savannah, Charleston, Wilmington and back to Hong Kong.
-- AWE-4. On May 29, the service will deploy nine vessels ranging from 5,500 TEUs to 6,600 TEUs, with “K” Line providing six ships, Yang Ming, one, and Hanjin, two. It will have the following port rotation: Ho Chi Minh, Shekou, Hong Kong, Yantian, Singapore, New York, Norfolk, Savannah, Singapore and back to Ho Chi Minh.
-- AWE-6. As of May 18, this loop will deploy nine vessels of 4,000 TEUs, of which Cosco will provide three, “K” Line, two, Yang Ming, one, and Hanjin, three. The port rotation will be Yantian, Ningbo, Shanghai, Busan, Savannah, Norfolk, Charleston and back to Yantian.
