Report: US to Be Top Corn Exporter Until 2022

The U.S. will continue to be the leading corn exporter to the world during the next 10 years, according to the U.S. Grains Council’s Chart of the Week, which shows the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s projections for changes in corn export patterns in the next decade, based on the USDA Agricultural Long-Term Projections to 2022 report.

The U.S., former Soviet Union, Argentina and South Africa are expected to collectively increase the volume of corn exports in the next 10 years by 34 million tons total. Meanwhile, the European Union, Brazil and other current exporters are projected to experience a net decline in corn export volume by nearly 6 million tons.

The USDA projects that by 2022 to 2023, total world corn exports will increase by 28 million metric tons, up 25 percent, from 111 million tons to 139 million tons.
