PSA Invests in Automated Port Vehicles

Global port giant PSA and the Port Authority of Singapore have allocated some $15.8 million to develop a new generation of automated port vehicles to be deployed at PSA’s transhipment facilities.

PSA Singapore Terminals said deals had been agreed with Singapore Technologies Kinetics Limited and Shanghai Zhenhua Heavy Industry Company Limited for each company to develop Automated Guided Vehicle prototypes using energy-efficient hybrid technology suitable for operation at Singapore.

Cargotec Corporation has also been contracted to develop a common navigation system for the AGVs.

A series of pilot trials will be conducted over the next two years in Singapore.
