Chapel Hill, North Carolina, May 6, 2014 – CargoSphere, the leading, cloud-based global rate management solution and confidential Rate Mesh Network for the ocean and air transportation and logistics industries, today announces the completion of Dachser’s global implementation of CargoSphere’s contract and rate management solutions. CargoSphere worked with Dachser technology and business leadership in the U.S, Germany and China to effectively plan and execute the rollout strategy.
Dachser was looking for a state-of-the-art contract management system in terms of ease-of-use, scalability, speed of contract entry and query response, and advanced rate sharing and collaboration. After a formal RFP (Request for proposal) Dachser selected CargoSphere’s cloud-based platform from a comprehensive list of global providers, based on it delivering on all these criteria.
During the initial implementation, Dachser rate teams entered 242 trade-lane contracts using CargoSphere’s SUDS (Smart Upload and Diagnostics Solution) and Global Surcharge Management (GSM) features, creating a vast storeroom of buy rates. SUDSintelligently reads and processes external freight rate data directly from any static document and loads it into a dynamic rate system database for a more efficient and productive contract management process. GSM features provide efficient management of contract accessorials.
“After a 9 month RFP process, including a trial with roughly 100 worldwide users, we were particularly impressed with SUDS and the depth of CargoSphere’s rate management functionality which gives us the power to manage our own contracts. Our world-class IT infrastructure demands high architectural and database standards which was a critical consideration as we moved to integrate CargoSphere with our core operational systems. We are gratified CargoSphere’s innovative contract management solutions equip our network of 187 Dachser Air & Sea Logistics branches in 36 countries with greater visibility to our buy and sell rates enhancing customer response and data accuracy,” said Günther Laumann, head of global management ocean, Dachser Air & Sea Logistics.
“We are delighted to see that our significant R&D investment is driving CargoSphere’s technology-based solution into the very top end of the market. For years, many of the largest forwarders have chosen to outsource rate management services because they simply didn’t believe they could handle the work themselves. Dachser’s use of CargoSphere to manage their global rates is proof positive of this continuing trend towards automation and technology over outsourced rate services,” said Neil Barni, president of CargoSphere.
Established in 1999, CargoSphere powers the industry’s first cloud-based, confidential global rate solution and Rate Mesh Network. CargoSphere is enabling a paradigm shift from outsourced contract management to self-management through innovative technology like SUDS (Smart Upload and Diagnostic Solution). SUDS intelligently reads static carrier-rate files directly into the CargoSphere cloud database. It significantly reduces the complexity and time-consuming task of managing freight rate contracts.
CargoSphere’s world-class contract and rate management functionality enables rate quoting, rate distribution and agent rate collaboration through the CargoSphere Rate Mesh. CargoSphere allows each of its global clients to create a private network of trusted parties. The Rate Mesh seamlessly and confidentially connects trading partners allowing them to integrate and simplify rate communication.
