Yusen Logistics Expands Operations to Bangladesh

Yusen Logistics will begin operating in Dhaka and Chittagong, Bangladesh, on Oct. 15 to serve apparel and other retail shippers.

The Japanese forwarder said Bangladesh, a member of the “Next 11” emerging economies following the BRICs, has attracted apparel and retail production because of abundant land and a “huge labor force.” The country also enjoys cheaper labor costs than China, spurring some shippers to shift production from China.

Yusen “will take advantage of its position as a total logistics company to provide one-stop services by combining air and sea forwarding, focusing on buyers consolidation services for apparel makers.”
