Vitran Posts Net Loss of $10.1 Million

Transportation and supply chain firm Vitran today reported a net loss of $10.10 million in the third quarter, compared with a net loss of $3.42 million in the third quarter of 2011.

For the first nine months of 2012 the company's net loss widened to $20.08 million from a loss of $5.94 million in the same period last year.

Quarterly revenue was $206.22 million, remaining relatively flat compared with last year’s revenue of $206.16 million for the third quarter. Revenue from January to September was $627.89 million, up from $600.43 million in the first nine months of 2011.

Operating performance in Canadian LTL and supply chain units was offset by poor results in its U.S. LTL operation, President and CEO Rick Gaetz said.
