Trucking company Ryder System today reported its profit in the fourth quarter of 2012 was $53.8 million, rising 12 percent from $48.1 million in the fourth quarter of 2011.
Quarterly revenue was $1.6 billion, a 3 percent increase compared with $1.5 billion in the same period the previous year.
For the full year of 2012, profit was $210.0 million, jumping 24 percent from $169.8 million in 2011. Annual revenue was $6.3 billion, rising 3 percent year-over-year from $6.1 billion.
The fleet management division reported profit jumped by 17 percent to $86.0 million in the fourth quarter of 2012 and increased by 16 percent to $307.6 million for the full year of 2012. The division’s revenue improved 4 percent year-over-year to $1.1 billion for the quarter and rose 4 percent to $4.4 billion for the year.
The supply chain segment reported profit soared by 22 percent to $31.0 million in the fourth quarter and increased by 10 percent to $115.2 million in the full year of 2012. The segment’s revenue inched up by 2 percent to $757.3 million in the quarter and rose by 3 percent to $2.3 billion for the year.
The company forecasted revenue in 2013 will be about $6.5 billion, up 4 percent from 2012.
