Initial Jobless Claims Up 46,000 for Week

The number of people filing initial unemployment claims in the U.S. jumped to 388,000 in the week ending Oct. 13, the U.S. Department of Labor reported, an increase of 46,000 from the week before.

The four-week moving average rose to 365,500, an increase of just 750 for the week.
