U.S. containerized import volume jumped 15.1 percent year-over-year in March 2014, the largest increase in 13 months, according to advance figures from PIERS, the data division of JOC Group Inc.

U.S. containerized import volume rose 6.2 percent year-over-year in January 2014, according to advance figures from PIERS, the data division of JOC Group Inc. Imports totaled 1.58 million TEUs in January. January imports were up roughly 10 percent from containerized volume in December.

Containerized banana imports into the U.S. climbed for an eighth straight quarter in the first quarter of 2013. Increases in the past four quarters have been by double digits.
