The International Longshore and Warehouse Union and the Pacific Maritime Association met for three days this past week without concluding negotiations; at the weekend, the parties announced a week-long recess in the talks. U.S. containerized imports climbed 1.5 percent year-over-year in June, following growth in April and May, according to advance figures from PIERS, a JOC sister company. U.S. containerized imports totaled 1.5 million 20-foot-equivalent units in June.
