Logistics provider Performance Team is opening a container transloading facility at the Port of Charleston to transload cargo from ocean shipping containers to trucks for distribution to customers throughout the Southeast.
Performance Team will operate out of the Wando Welch Terminal's container freight station, where it will handle both import and export cargo.
Transloading cargo on site allows for greater efficiencies, reduced cost and faster speed to market for retail imports. Performance Team has seen an increase of as much as 50 percent this year in its nationwide transloading activities.
Cliff Katab, president of Performance Team, said the new facility will improve turn times and allow customer supply chains to be “more flexible with increased speed."
Performance Team, headquartered in Santa Fe Springs, Calif., operates more than 5 million square feet of warehouse space across the U.S., including a 250,000-square-foot warehouse in nearby Goose Creek, S.C. The company has extensive experience in product handling for the retail sector, with customers including Belk, Positec and Best Buy.
