Recently, Shanghai Shipping Exchange released the average port stay time and the average berth time of the first half of year 2023 of ocean-going international vessels at major ports in the world.

Guangzhou Port (Nansha) ranks first in its average berth time with 0.62 day and second in its average port stay time with 0.92 day. Guangzhou Port (Nansha), on a global scale posted a very impressive showing.

Data shows that the comprehensive service of major ports in China remained stable from January to June, while the operational efficiency of major ports in Europe and America improved.

According to statistics, from January to June, the average port stay time and the average berth time of container vessels of 9 major ports in China is 1.53 days and 0.86 day, with a year-on- year decrease of 14.6% and 19.5% respectively, which is much more positive vs the time in other 11 major foreign ports (2.21 days and 1.70 days).

At the beginning of 2023, with the change of epidemic prevention and control policies, China's logistics supply chain has recovered and stabilized, and the operational efficiency of major ports has significantly improved.

The recovery and strong performance at Guangzhou (Nansha) reinforces the latter. IE: average port stay time of vessels is 0.92 day, a decrease of 40.8% month on month.

In the first half of the year, major ports in Europe and the US resumed normal operation. For instance, Port of Hamburg: average port stay time was 2.19 days, down 41.9% YOY. Port of Los Angles: average port stay time=4.37days, down 41.3% YOY and 4.65 days at the Port of Long Beach.

However, a sluggish economic environment, West Coast Labor Negotiations, and high inventories yielded a performance rebound at major port but volumes continue to be soft.
