Cargo volume at London Heathrow Airport slipped 1.9 percent in March, the second year-over-year decline at the gateway in the past four months.
The decline from the same month a year ago came despite a 10.6 percent month-to-month gain at Heathrow.
But the UK’s economy has been faltering in 2011, as inflation and a government austerity program have given the country sluggish growth this year. The International Monetary Fund on Monday scaled back its economic growth forecast for the UK to 1.7 percent this year.

Cargo growth at Heathrow has been slowing in recent months after growing 15.2 percent year-over-year in 2010.
The strong expansion hit a brake at the end of the year as freight volume fell 9.4 percent.
The slip in March left cargo volume up 3.6 percent in the first quarter.
