Freight forwarders Overseas Group and Globe Express Services announced a merger that took place March 20. Management teams from both companies will remain with the new organization.
The merger will result in increased efficiencies, knowledge base and market share, enabling the combined company to offer more value added services, expand its geographic footprint and embark on new opportunities, said Ziad Korban, who will serve as chief executive officer.
The companies do not overlap in coverage areas, according to Overseas Group President Gilbert Khoury. Each has its own areas of expertise in terms of business segments, trade lanes served and geographic presence.
Overseas Group has specialized in U.S. exports to Europe and the Middle East. Globe Express Services has historically focused on Asian imports to the United States.
The company now offers corporate offices and personnel in nearly every major global logistics market including Asia, the Americas, Europe and the Middle East, said Tony Bikhazi, who will serve as the merged company's president for the Americas region.
