FedEx Opens First Forwarding Office in South Africa

FedEx Trade Networks opened its first office in South Africa, and added offices in Italy and Turkey, as the air and ocean forwarder expands its network outside of the U.S. and Canada to 45 stations since 2008.

The company’s office in Johannesburg, South Africa, provides FedEx better access to the top African economic power. The company’s new office in Bologna is its second in Italy, and the new stations in Ankara and Izmir expand FedEx’s Turkish footprint to three offices.

Africa has been tapped by many logistics analysts as the next manufacturing hot spot, especially since labor costs in China and other Asian countries are rising.
