Singapore Airlines Cargo will boost its Asia Pacific coverage after agreeing to manage the bellyhold capacity of Scoot, a new entrant regional airline.
SIA Cargo, which cut freight capacity by 20 percent this year due to excess capacity, said the addition of Scoot's bellyhold capacity and network will give its customers “the benefits of a wider network, and more choices in terms of frequency and capacity.”
Scoot is due to start operations in June, offering daily service between Singapore and Sydney and a five-times-weekly service between Singapore and the Gold Coast in Australia. Both services will deploy Boeing 777-200 aircraft with bellyhold capacity of 10 metric tons. In the second half of the year, the low-cost carrier will also launch a four-times-weekly service to Tianjin, China.
