Qantas Freight Enterprises’ first scheduled freighter service linking Australia to the Chinese manufacturing hub of Chongqing and the U.S. will depart tomorrow.
The weekly service will route from Sydney to Chongqing’s Jiangbai International Airport before continuing on to Chicago via Shanghai.
The launch is part of the Australian carrier’s push to expand its Asia footprint by leveraging Qantas Group’s existing assets, said Qantas Freight Enterprises Executive Manager Lisa Brock.
With the addition of Chongqing, Qantas Freight Enterprises is now marketing freight capacity to nine airports in mainland China, including Shanghai, Gulin, Haikou, Hangzhou, Ningbo, Shantou, Guangzhou and Beijing.
“Qantas Freight Enterprises has the flexibility through its integrated network of Qantas, Jetstar, Jetstar Asia, and freighter services to respond to the needs of its customers and changing manufacturing trends in the region,” Brock said.
