ANA Carries 29 Percent More International Cargo

Japan's All Nippon Airways said its international cargo volume increased for the 16th consecutive month in December on a year-on-year basis, soaring 29.3 percent to 46,349 tons. The year-on-year pace of growth remained almost unchanged from 29.2 percent in November.

ANA's domestic cargo volume also grew for the 13th straight month in December on a year-on-year basis, increasing 4.9 percent to 49,732 tons. The year-on-year pace of growth slowed from 8.4 percent in November.

ANA Earns $457 Million Profit in Nine Months

In the fist nine months of fiscal 2010, which started on April 1, 2010, ANA's international cargo volume totaled 375,592 tons, up 36.4 percent from a year earlier. The carrier's domestic cargo volume in the April-December period amounted to 365,090 tons, up 5.1 percent from a year earlier.

Rival Japan Airlines, Japan’s largest airline, since it stopped operating its own freighter flights at the end of October, has steadily reduced the amount of cargo it carries in the belly space of its passenger flights. International cargo fell 62 percent in December to 20,111 tons. Domestic cargo fell 14.4 percent to 43,976 tons.
