The Port of Seattle Commission has approved a 25-year program intended to help create 100,000 new jobs in the Puget Sound and Washington state region while reducing the port’s environmental impact.
Goals of the Century Agenda include positioning the region as a leading Northwest logistics hub, promoting the region as an international tourist and business destination, establishing an educational consortium to promote economic growth and fostering efforts to make the port energy efficient.
The port’s objective to promote the region as a premier logistics area includes increasing annual container volume to more than 3.5 million units, tripling air cargo volume to 750,000 metric tons, tripling the value of outbound cargo to more than $50 billion and doubling the economic value of the fishing and maritime cluster.
