(Berlin/Frankfurt, November 1, 2011) After nearly 40 years of committed work and leadership, Michael Korn, Deputy Chairman of the Management Board of Schenker Deutschland AG, entered retirement at the end of October. He was responsible for air and ocean freight, trade fair business, special transports, as well as logistics for major sports events.

His tasks will now be transferred to two new Board members. Jochen Müller, previously head of the national company Schenker Limited in the UK, will take on responsibility for air freight, trade fairs, special transports, and sports events.

Thomas Hauck, who is based in Beijing and manages DB Schenker Logistics in North China, will take over responsibility for ocean freight and project business. “I’m very pleased that we are able to fill these crucial Board positions internally, with internationally experienced colleagues,” says Dr. Thomas C. Lieb, Chairman of the Management Board of Schenker AG and Head of the DB Schenker Logistics Business Unit within Deutsche Bahn’s Transportation and Logistics Division.

“Michael Korn is a true veteran of logistics and of our Division. As he is retiring and leaving us, his tasks will be taken over by two colleagues. This is due to dynamic business development in air and ocean freight, and also reflects our decision to manage our worldwide air and ocean freight separately at the regional and national level. DB Schenker thanks Michael Korn for his work, his success, and his loyalty,” Lieb adds. Schenker Deutschland AG’s two new Board members have been active for many years in various positions and locations within the global DB Schenker organization.

Schenker Deutschland AG is the leading provider of integrated logistics services in Germany with around 13,800 employees at over 100 locations and annual sales in the order of 3.8 billion euros. The company is part of DB Schenker, Deutsche Bahn’s Transportation and Logistics Division.
