Fesco Transportation Group’s ocean carrier saw its deep-sea container traffic grow 14.1 percent in 2012 compared to 2011, driven by expansion of its liner network in its domestic Russian market and international routes.
Fesco, Russia’s largest container line, handled 342,700 20-foot-equivalent units in international services and 68,000 TEUs in domestic routes, an increase of 8 percent on 2011.
The group’s container rail unit traffic increased 5.5 percent to 207,800 TEUs, but non-container cargo was 7.5 percent lower at 23.6 million tons.
The Vladivostok Commercial Sea Port in Russia’s Far East increased throughput by 5.6 percent to 456,100 TEUs.
Fesco’s transport businesses, which generate annual revenue in excess of $1 billion, are being integrated into those of the Summa group, the Moscow-based trading and investment company, which bought it for around $1.2 billion in December.
