Container carrier Hanjin Shipping and maritime transportation company Evergreen Line are reducing capacity on the weekly China-Europe service from October to December because of a seasonal drop in trade demand.
The joint rotation is referred to as “China-U.K. Express” by Hanjin and “China-Europe-Mediterranean” by Evergreen.
Among 13 voyages scheduled in the fourth quarter, the partner companies have decided to skip three voyages reducing capacity by 23 percent. They are considering more cuts.
Hanjin has also reduced its Asia-North Europe route from nine to eight loops, a 13 percent capacity decrease, beginning in mid-October.
