Hong Kong Container Traffic Up 7 Percent

The Port of Hong Kong’s container traffic rose 7 percent in the second quarter to 6 million 20-foot equivalent container units, pushing first half traffic up 4 percent year-over-year.

The port handled 11.9 million TEUs in the first half of the year. Laden container imports rose 10 percent to 2.8 million TEUs, while laden exports rose 6 percent to 2.7 million TEUs. 

Total cargo handling through the port rose 9 percent year-over-year to 73.4 million metric tons.
