Geodis Wilson, the global freight management division of the SNCF Geodis Group, will be represented at the SMM 2010 (7-10 September 2010), with its own exhibition stand (Hall B6 / No. 274). As a leading provider of marine transport and logistics solutions, the company is using the world’s most important trade show for shipbuilding and marine technology in Hamburg to highlight its services.

In recent years, Geodis Wilson has created and optimized innovative tailored solutions covering the entire transport and logistics chain for ship owners and operators, particularly in the cruise sector, to supply their vessels worldwide. Now, with increased product ranges and an expanded number of components required by the industry, new challenges and special demands regarding spare part logistics and transparency within the supply chain are presenting themselves. As complexity increases so does the requirement for flexibility in the supply chain. When supplying cruise ships, in particular with parts and services, the point of delivery can change frequently from port to port, therefore leading to tight deadline requirements in terms of timing of deliveries.

“Our dedicated services for maritime customers include regional support centers and a broad range of Web-based E-services”, explained Andreas Market, Director Vertical Markets, Marine Logistics of Geodis Wilson. “With our ‘Marine Order Management’ (MOM) tool, we are able to provide the marine industry with a convenient, tailored in-house order and warehouse management system.” At the same time, the company has set up a “Global Control Tower” system as a single point of contact for all customer inquiries. Geodis Wilson is working for ship owners, shipping companies, suppliers of ship spare parts, shipyards, shipbuilders, ship maintenance and repair companies as well as shipbuilders. Among the customers are renowned shipping companies such as Royal Caribbean Cruise Lines, Crystal and Carnival Australia.

For these and other clients, Geodis Wilson has set up “control towers” in the main cruise hubs Rotterdam, Oslo, Sydney, Singapore, Hong Kong, Los Angeles, and Miami. Equipped with the latest communications and data processing systems to guarantee a fast and reliable data exchange, the company is able to control the freight management and information flow worldwide. On request from customers additional services such as order processing, supply, stock control, project management, and cost analysis can also be provided.
