DHL launched weekly direct less-than-container-load services connecting Bangkok to Los Angeles, Hamburg and Tokyo, the carrier said Wednesday.
Through Danmar Lines, DHL's in-house carrier, the new guaranteed weekly direct LCL services will enable shipments to arrive up to a week earlier.
“The launch of the new service taps into the key trade lanes for businesses in Thailand,” the world’s leading express and logistics company said in a statement.
According to DHL, the U.S. is Thailand’s largest export market, with export revenue totaling over US$20.2 billion in 2008, followed closely by Japan, which generated US$20 billion in export revenue. Germany generated US$3.2 billion in export revenue. DHL's launch of direct services in Thailand is part of its ongoing LCL service enhancements, the company said. Since the start of this year,
DHL has launched 10 other direct LCL services from China, Japan and India to meet growing demand for its services. DHL’s routes launched this year include: Chennai, India; Felixstowne, United Kingdom; Shenzhen, China; Hamburg; Genoa, Italy; Southampton, UK; Rotterdam, Netherlands; Antwerp, Belgium; Le Havre, France; Vancouver, Canada; Tokyo and Yokohama in Japan and Chicago.
