Wood Appointed to Head International Role at FreightCar America

Chicago, Illinois, December 1, 2010 - FreightCar America, Inc. (NASDAQ: RAIL) announced today that it has named Leslie G. Wood Managing Director, International Sales and Strategic Sourcing effective today.

Ed Whalen, President and Chief Executive Officer said, "We are pleased to have Les join us. He will strengthen the Company's focus in international sales and strategic sourcing, two areas that represent opportunities for growth and cost reduction."

Wood brings to FreightCar America thirteen years experience in railroad industry sales and international business development. He holds a BS degree in Material Science and Engineering from Ohio State University and an MBA with a concentration in finance from DePaul University.

Wood, his wife and three children reside in Oswego, IL.

FreightCar America, Inc. manufactures railroad freight cars, with particular expertise in coal-carrying railcars, supplies railcar parts, leases freight cars through its JAIX Leasing Company subsidiary, and provides railcar maintenance, repairs and management through its FreightCar Rail Services, LLC subsidiary.
