UPS LOGISTICS TAPS DIMAGGIO FOR TOP POST

Dan DiMaggio was named chief executive of the UPS Logistics Group, a subsidiary of United Parcel Service.

The group includes UPS Worldwide Logistics, Worldwide Dedicated Services, Martrac, UPS Truck Leasing, Roadnet Technologies and SonicAir.Mr. DiMaggio previously was chief operating officer of UPS Worldwide Logistics, a third-party provider of global supply chain management solutions.

He has been with United Parcel Service for 27 years.

Mr. DiMaggio succeeds Ray Thurston, who announced his retirement this month.

Mr. Thurston became chief executive of the Logistics Group in 1996.

He was the founder of SonicAir, which was acquired by UPS in 1994.

UPS Logistics Group, with headquarters in Atlanta, was established in 1995 as an independently managed wholly owned subsidiary of UPS.
