Werner Enterprises Receives US EPA 2013 SmartWay Excellence Award

OMAHA, Neb.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Oct. 22, 2013-- Werner Enterprises (NASDAQ: WERN), a premier transportation and logistics provider, was honored with a SmartWay® Excellence Award from the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency as a true industry leader in freight supply chain environmental performance and energy efficiency.

Werner is committed to controlling excessive fuel consumption and pollutants through several tactics: installing diesel-fired heating systems to reduce truck idle time, utilizing aerodynamic trucks, equipping trailers with trailer skirts, using tire inflation systems and implementing the newest diesel technology.
