Report: North American Class 8 Orders Remain Strong

In February, North American Class 8 orders rose above 20,000 units for the fifth month in a row, while a jump in step-van orders drove new medium-duty demand above the usual trend, according to the State of the Industry report released by ACT Research, which covers Classes 5 through 8.

“Class 8 net orders rose to just over 23,000 units,” said Keith Vieth, ACT’s president and senior analyst, in a written statement. “February was the first month in the past 14 in which orders rose above year-ago levels.”

“Demand for Classes 5 to 7 trucks, buses and RVs were generally in line, but step-van orders boosted total orders in February,” he added.
