ANN ARBOR, Mich. — Con-way Freight, a less-than-truckload (LTL) carrier and subsidiary of Con-way Inc. (NYSE: CNW), today announced it has been honored with an LTL Carrier of the Year award by the Ryder Supply Chain Services account team supporting a major high-tech manufacturing customer. Con-way Freight was recognized by the account team for superior service supporting the high-tech customer's freight transportation needs.

Ryder operates a multi-carrier transportation network, which handles thousands of shipments daily throughout North America for the customer. Con-way Freight is one of five primary carriers engaged by Ryder to provide LTL freight services for the manufacturer's supply chain.

Ryder and its customer hold their core carriers to some of the most stringent transportation quality and service performance standards in the industry. Its annual evaluation program measures and ranks LTL carriers across four categories: on-time performance, exception-free handling, accurate and on-time invoicing and customer service.

Greg Stubbs, senior logistics manager for Ryder System, Inc., noted: "We commend the Con-way Freight team for earning this distinction. Their conduct at every corporate level displays the true spirit of customer service, cooperation, partnership and commitment to continuous improvement. Once again they've raised the bar for other carriers to follow."

"Over the years we've worked hard to create a customer experience that sets us apart from the competition," said Greg Lehmkuhl, president, Con-way Freight. "We are honored to be recognized by Ryder for our performance supporting this important customer, and we want to extend our sincere appreciation to everyone who contributed to the success of this relationship."
