Truck Driver Turnover Remained High in Third Quarter

The annualized line-haul driver turnover rate at large truckload fleets (those that report more than $30 million in annual revenue), dipped 2 percentage points to 104 percent in the third quarter, falling from the five-year record high of 106 percent reported in the second quarter, according to the American Trucking Associations.

At small fleets (those that report less than $30 million in annual revenue), competition for quality drivers and subsequent pressure on the driver market contributed to an 8 percentage point jump in turnover, reaching 94 percent, the highest point since the first quarter of 2007.
