Dedicated Transport Holdings is expanding into liquid bulk trucking by acquiring All Star Transportation, a carrier with offices in Clearwater, Fla., and New Castle, Del.
It’s a move into a niche market for a company that offers dedicated contract carriage and private fleet conversion services to shippers in the Midwest and Eastern United States.
All Star provides tanker service to water treatment plants throughout the United States. Dedicated will keep its management team and 40 drivers, and will hire 20 more drivers this year.
The acquisition is the first of several trucking acquisitions planned by Cleveland-based Dedicated Transport Holdings, said President and CEO Frank Wagner.
He said the company plans to buy “a number of mid-sized trucking companies” over the next several years. The terms of the All Star transaction were not disclosed.
Dedicated Transport, founded in 1988, offers dedicated dry van, flatbed and tanker fleet services, as well as freight management and other logistics services.
