THREE FORMER CNA OFFICIALS ARE FORMING OWN COMPANY

Three former executives at Chicago-based CNA Insurance Cos. are forming an insurance consulting business after resigning earlier this month, The Journal of Commerce has learned.

"We can confirm that three executive-level employees did resign on May 17," said Linda Powers, manager of media relations, reading from a prepared statement.The executives are Kevin J. McHugh, formerly vice president of CNA's specialty operations department, Frank A. Patalano, formerly vice president of the professional liability division and Roger E. Lumpp, formerly vice president of the financial markets division.

They could not be reached for comment.

"These individuals were replaced through internal promotions," Ms. Powers said.

Bernard L. Hengesbaugh, has been named to fill the vacancy left by Mr. McHugh in specialty operations. Jon T. Carothers has been named to replace Mr. Patalano. No one has been named to fill the post formerly held by Mr. Lumpp.
