SWISS OUTPUT UP IN THIRD QUARTER

Switzerland's real gross domestic product (GDP) rose an annualized, seasonally adjusted 0.6 percent in the third quarter this year, compared with a 0.4 percent gain in the second quarter, the Federal Office for Economic Questions said.

Real GDP fell an annualized 1.1 percent in the third quarter last year. This year, real GDP fell 0.4 percent in the third quarter as compared with the same quarter of 1992.The office said the slight growth of GDP in the third quarter was primarily due to a change in domestic demand. Real consumption in private households, the most important demand component, rose an annualized 2.7 percent as compared with the second quarter, confirming a recovery already seen in the second quarter, it added.
