SOURCES SAY JAPAN TO SPEED BANK REFORM

Japan's Ministry of Finance has moved to accelerate the reorganization of the country's financial markets through a revision of the existing banking law that would remove some restrictions on banks' operations, ministry sources said.

The sources said the ministry will submit a bill revising the law on amalgamation and conversion of financial institutions to the Diet when it opens in February.
