Second Successful Year of the IIFA FIATA Diploma in Freight Forwarding
Out of a total class of 15 in the 2009/10 FIATA Diploma in Freight Forwarding seven participants obtained a distinction (80%+) while a further six participants obtained a merit (70%+) in their results. The course which started in October 2009 finished on 29th June with the final examination.
The course is run by the Irish International Freight Association (IIFA) and is accredited by FIATA the International Organization of National Freight Associations (150 countries) and is recognized around the world as an accredited international qualification.
The course embraces nine modules: Freight Forwarding, Air Freight, Seafreight, Road Transport, Customs, Logistics/Warehousing, Insurance/Legal, Dangerous Goods and CIT (Computer and Information Technology) as used in the Forwarding Industry.

The course which will re-commence in October 2010 and finish in June 2011 is delivered by blended learning - a blend of distance learning and evening tutorials - and does not require attendance during working normal working hours.

IIFA CEO Colm Walsh is enthusiastic about the possibility of hosting two FIATA Diploma courses later this year, with the second course outside of the Dublin Area. We have had requests for a separate course in the Shannon/ Limerick area and if we receive enough support we would be very happy to run our FIATA Diploma in that area commented Colm Walsh.

About IIFA
The IIFA is the sole representative body and official voice of the freight forwarding sector in Ireland. Established in 1962, it currently has 100 members who collectively employ more than 3,000 people and handle more than 90% of Ireland's €148 billion international merchandise trade.

About the FIATA Diploma in Freight Forwarding
The second FIATA Diploma in Freight Forwarding was delivered by the Irish International Freight Association between October 2009 and the end of June 2010. Over that time participants undertook the study of nine areas pertinent to the Freight Forwarding Industry.
The course was delivered through a system of Blended Learning, a combination of class-room and distance learning. Monthly tutorials were held for the introduction of each of the nine modules but the greater part of the workload was undertaken by the participants who studied the notes in their own time.
The Blended Learning approach offers advantages to both firms and participants, as there is no interference with work attendance during the course and participants can study in their own time and at their own pace.
The FIATA Diploma in Freight Forwarding is an internationally recognized qualification accredited by FIATA, the International Federation of Freight Forwarder's Associations, based in Zurich, Switzerland.
