Appointment to the Belledune Port Authority

OTTAWA, Oct. 8, 2013 /CNW/ - The Honourable Lisa Raitt, Minister of Transport, today announced the appointment of Ms. Danika Keeley as a director of the Belledune Port Authority for a three-year term.

"I am pleased that Ms. Keeley has agreed to serve on the board of the Belledune Port Authority," said Minister Raitt. "Her extensive knowledge and experience in business planning, financial management, human resources and marketing will be great assets to the authority."

For the past fourteen years, as Representative and Franchise Developer at Dixie Lee (Maritimes) Ltd, in Campbellton, NB, she has provided support for franchisees, including training, supervising, developing marketing plans and negotiating national supply contracts. Prior to this, Ms. Keeley was Complaints Administrator at ABTCO (LouisianaPacific), in East River, NS, where she assessed product complaints, performed field inspections and coordinated quality control specialists.

Ms. Keeley graduated with a bachelor of arts from Saint Thomas University, Fredericton, NB, and studied Business and Human Resources at St. Mary's University in Halifax, NS. Among various board positions Ms. Keeley has held, she was president of the Campbellton Regional Chamber of Commerce and was a board member of the New Brunswick Chamber of Commerce and of Enterprise Restigouche.

The Belledune Port Authority is the Canada Port Authority (CPA) established to manage the Port of Belledune under the Canada Marine Act. Eighteen CPAs now make up Canada's national port system. The CPAs are non-share capital corporations incorporated under the Canada Marine Act that are of strategic significance to Canada's trade. Their effective operation contributes to Canada's global competitiveness.
