Port of Rotterdam’s Construction of Maasvlakte 2 Terminals Remains on Schedule

Port of Rotterdam Authority recently reported that construction of Maasvlakte 2, an extension of the Port of Rotterdam’s Maasvlakte industrial area, is still on schedule to open in 2013, with the first phase close to completion.

The first phase of the terminal covers 86 hectares (about 213 acres) and has a capacity of 2.7 million 20-foot-equivalent units per year.

Construction of both APM Terminals Maasvlakte II’s container terminal and Rotterdam World Gateway container terminal is proceeding on schedule, with openings planned for 2014.
