Indian Ports Association (IPA) was established in 1966 with the goal of fostering growth and development of all major ports, which are under the supervisory control of the Ministry of Shipping. Over the years, IPA has become a major think tank for Indian ports. with the ultimate goal of integrating the maritime sector.
The IPA’s goals are to undertake and promote technical and economic research into matters pertaining to the IPA’s Planning Organization; offer complete technological solutions to Port Management; promote a culture of Uniformity and standardisation in the functioning of various Indian port; provide analysis of Port Performance Indicators, Equipment Utilization and other productivity parameters, and monitor shipping and traffic-related activities of all major Indian ports.
