Port of Le Havre, A major actor of the World Wine Connection

From November 4th to November 6th, inst., The Port of Le Havre Authority (‘Grand Port Maritime du Havre’, ‘GPMH’) was present at the Hong Kong International Wine and Spirits Fair, among some 700 exhibitors, including over a hundred French : producers, wine traders, business companies marketing wine-related products, etc. GPMH had a common stand with big decision-makers such as Giorgio Gori (DHL), Balguerie Group, and Seafrigo / SD Log.

High point of the exhibition : the GPMH’s Business Event
Moderated by Hervé Cornède, GPMH Commercial and Marketing Director, a Business Event organized by the Port of Le Havre Authority grouped together numerous professionals : forwarding agents specialized in wine and spirits, wine producers and traders, shipping companies and journalists. An opportunity to remind the participants that 80 % of the French wine and spirits exports pass through Le Havre.

Representatives from Maersk Line Company, Hyphenea (wine trader), Giorgio Gori, Balguerie Group and Seafrigo / SD’LOG came to illustrate the advantages of the port of Le Havre in the supply chain of the wine and spirits trade.

About customs, an expert wine and spirits’ working group
Bruno Hamon, deputy Regional Director of the French Customs, explained that an expert’s working group had been created in connection with the GPMH, to detail the quality of services offered by the port in the field of customs and administrative procedures.

  • 80 000 TEU/year,
  • 55 dedicated warehouses for the storage of wine and spirits,
  • 10 daily calls connecting all continents,
  • 12 European destinations connected to Le Havre by dedicated rail services,
  • 9 river terminals located in the Paris Area.
