AMERICAN RE-INSURANCE CO. (Princeton, N.J.) - Douglas W. Paige has been appointed vice president in the information services division. He will coordinate the information service support for American Re managers, brokers and domestic operations support.

Mr. Paige joined American Re in 1987 and rose to assistant vice president in 1991. Formerly, he was assistant vice president at the New York Insurance Exchange.American Re is a direct writer of treaty and facultative (specific area of risk) reinsurance and related services, with 13 offices in the United States and 15 international offices.

CONSTITUTION REINSURANCE CORP. (New York) - John D. Curry has been appointed vice president and project director of national programs.

His responsibilities will include the development and management of facultative (specific risk) programs as well as serving as a resource person for special treaty projects.

Mr. Curry previously served as executive vice president and chief underwriting officer for both Jefferson Insurance Group and Investors Insurance Group.

NEAR NORTH INSURANCE BROKERAGE INC. (Chicago) - Linda L. McCarty has been named claims manager in the health-care risk management services division. She will be working with health-care clients to structure and service claims and risk and quality management programs.

Ms. McCarty joined Near North from CNA Insurance, where she was an account executive, handling environmental coverage litigation as applied to reinsurance contracts.

ZURICH REINSURANCE CENTRE HOLDINGS INC. (New York) - Glen E. Curley, Kirby V. Montgomery and Frederick J. Pagnani Jr. have all been named heads of underwriting units.

Mr. Curley is vice president of special casualty. He joined ZRC in 1993, having served as assistant secretary and treaty underwriter with Mercantile & General Reinsurance Corp.

Mr. Montgomery is senior vice president of standard casualty. He also joined the company in 1993 from General Reinsurance Corp., where he had been employed for nearly 18 years, most recently as vice president of treaty marketing.

Mr. Pagnani is vice president of professional liability. He also joined ZRC in 1993 from General Re, where he was most recently a program account executive, developing and managing business in the errors and omissions area.

ZRC is the principal underwriting affiliate of Zurich Insurance Co. in the North American market for traditional property and casualty reinsurance.
