Alan Bersin, President Obama’s newly appointed Commissioner of US Customs and Border Protection, will address the New England International Trade Community at the 20th Anniversary of the Coalition of New England Companies for Trade (CONECT). This occasion, on Thursday June 17, 5:30-9:00PM at Granite Links Golf Club in Quincy, MA, will mark Mr. Bersin’s first public appearance in New England since being confirmed by Congress.

Joe O'Connor, Director of International Transportation for Franklin Sports in Stoughton, Ma, comments, “There are so many important issues now facing the international shipping community; this appearance by Mr. Bersin will offer industry professionals a clear insightful view of new US CBP initiatives. The value of CONECT to its members is proven once again with the appearance of Commissioner Bersin in the New England community.”

Importers, exporters, ocean carriers, port authorities, customs brokers, freight forwarders, warehouse operators and transportation providers are impacted daily by CBP’s regulatory reach. CBP and Commissioner Bersin will be playing an increasingly visible role in the coming years as Congress continues to impose new restrictions and scrutiny over what cargoes can move in and out of this country, even while President Obama presses for a doubling of US exports.
