New Cargo Facility Breaks Ground at MIA
On Thursday, November 10, officials from Centurion Air Cargo and parent company Aerolog Group were joined by Miami-Dade County Commissioners Rebeca Sosa and Bruno Barreiro, City of Miami Springs Mayor Zavier M. Garcia and representatives from the Miami-Dade Aviation Department, Aeroterm and The Beacon Council to celebrate the groundbreaking of Centurion’s new global headquarters and cargo center at Miami International Airport.
The new 800,000-square-foot cargo center for Centurion, one of the largest carriers of perishable goods between North, Central and South America, will house an international shipping and receiving hub that features dry and refrigerated warehouse areas and an exclusive ramp with space to park up to eight wide-body aircrafts such as the Boeing 747.
The expansion will also add 200 jobs and $123 million of capital investment to the local economy. Aeroterm, a global leader in development and management of on-airport facilities, and Bristol Group, a nationally active investment and development firm specializing in industrial properties, have partnered with the Aerolog Group to develop and fund the cargo center, slated to open in 2012.
