NAII PRESIDENT BLASTS CLINTON HEALTH PLAN

The National Association of Independent Insurers here has come out against the Clinton health care plan, calling it costly and unworkable.

Lowell R. Beck, president of the property and casualty trade group, said the plan creates more than 70 different bureaucracies and "forces every American into a health care alliance even if the vast majority of Americans appear to be satisfied with their current coverage."In addition, he said, "forcing employees to shoulder new costs and regulatory burdens could have a negative impact on our troubled economy. No doubt many employers would have to sacrifice jobs to pay for this plan if it is enacted."
