Ministers from 52 Countries to discuss future of Transport

Media accreditation has officially started for the 2010 International Transport Forum, to be held in Leipzig, Germany, from 26-28 May. The International Transport Forum is an invitation-only event bringing together Ministers of Transport, leading private sector actors and non-governmental organisations from around the world to discuss strategic issues in global mobility under the headline: Transport and Innovation: Unleashing the Potential.

The 2010 International Transport Forum will attract over 500 senior-level representatives from politics, business, civil society, international organisations and research. High-level panel discussions will focus on key topics such as:
• Overcoming barriers to innovation
• Green and more efficient supply chains
• The future of air transport
• Wireless communications and transport
• Low-carbon alternatives and e-mobility.

“Transport moves more people and goods more rapidly and safer than ever, said Jack Short, Secretary General of the Forum, today in Paris, but the sector faces enormous challenges that require innovative thinking and practice.” Short added: “Climate change, congestion, security, accessibility and safety remain serious challenges. Creative responses are urgently required.”

The 2010 International Transport Forum will also feature:
• An exhibition including live technology demonstrations
• Presentation of the Young Researcher of the Year Award
