VIETNAM OFFICIAL TO SPEAK IN US

Vietnam's first vice premier, Phan Van Khai, is scheduled to address U.S. business leaders Thursday at the Plaza Hotel in New York.

He is expected to discuss "the substantial benefits for American business and labor, as well as international commerce, from an early commencement of trade and investment between the United States and Vietnam," according to a statement from the Vietnam-American Chamber of Commerce.The chamber is co-sponsoring the event with the U.S.-Indochina Reconciliation Project and the California Southeast Asia Business Council.

It is scheduled to begin at 6 p.m.
