Truckers block Israeli port

Dozens of truck drivers blocked the entrance to the Port of Ashdod Sunday, to protest job actions by port employees.

Local reports said that truckers also began a go-slow campaign for loading and unloading cargo at the port.

Port workers ended their sanctions Sunday night, but the truckers' union was seeking guarantees that any future work disputes at the port would not adversely affect truck owners.

Port workers have been on strike since October to protest the Finance Ministry's plan to convert Israel's ports into independent companies and encourage competition.
