TRADE SURPLUS RISES IN GERMANY

Germany posted a trade surplus of US$3.1 billion (5.12 billion deutsche marks) in December, up from a DM3.53 billion surplus in November and a DM3.54 billion surplus in December 1990.

When service industries and investments are taken into account along with merchandise trade, Germany as a whole posted a current account deficit of DM1.7 billion in December.For November, Germany showed a revised current account surplus of DM1.5 billion, the Statistics Office said.
