Indian Subcontinent-Far East Exports Extend Decline

Containerized exports from the Indian subcontinent and the Middle East to Far East Asia continued to fall steeply in January, dropping almost 25 percent from the same month a year ago, according to data from Container Trades Statistics, Ltd. Export volume in this trade lane was also down in 2012 by 9.3 percent over 2011. Other regions showed increases or less dramatic decreases, indicating a possible shift in ranking of trade partners over time.
